New Lexus Model LC500 Revealed at NAIAS

Lexus blog - Feb 22Lexus brought a treat to this year’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) with a brand-new luxury model: the LC500 coupe.

In its first-ever showcase, the LC500 is a taste of what will eventually be available for market purchase. It fashions a sleek design and high-tier performance. The premium level of care put into this vehicle suggests that it will stand as Lexus’ flagship model, serving as an archetype for future Lexus vehicles to draw from.

Exterior design is the at the forefront of the LC500’s features. This model is an evolution from a previous Lexus concept, and Lexus has impressively retained many of the design elements from the original. A glass roof covers the top of the vehicle, with carbon fibre available as an option. It uses the classic Lexus grille, triple LED headlights and stylish air intakes on either side. The vehicle’s rear-end boasts a futuristic look with a diffuser. A rear wing is available as an option for enhanced aerodynamics. The vehicle’s interior is coloured deep gold throughout for a feeling of true immersion.

Living up to its look, the LC500 performs with strength. It comes with a 5.0-litre V8 engine, borrowing from the GS-F and RC-F models as this particular engine produces smooth and responsive power. This setup allows for 467 horsepower to be generated with 389 lb.-ft. of torque, rocketing the LC500 to 100 km/h in under 4.5 seconds. In a first for a luxury vehicle, 10-speed automatic transmission is linked to the engine.
