House Build with Habitat for Humanity

Performance Lexus Toyota recently participated in a house build with Habitat for Humanity. Dealership staff were eager to participate in this labour-intensive project! While building a house may sound exhausting, it turned out to be an uplifting event knowing that this house would go toward a family in need of affordable housing. Performance Lexus Toyota was thrilled to participate. Building a strong community always comes first.

Habitat for Humanity Canada (HFHC) is a Canadian non-governmental and non-profit organization. In 1985, the Habitat for Humanity movement spread to Canada with the first Canadian build in Winkler, Manitoba. Habitat for Humanity in Canada has since grown to 72 affiliates in 10 provinces and 3 territories and has successfully provided over 2,500 families with safe, decent and affordable housing. Each affiliate is managed by a local board of directors. With the first build in Quebec, Habitat homes have been built in all ten provinces in 1998 and in all three territories in 2014.

The world’s first ReStore was opened by Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg in 1991. Habitat ReStores are retail outlets that sell new and used building and household materials donated by small businesses, large companies, job sites, and individuals. Proceeds from ReStores help local affiliates fund the construction of Habitat houses within the community. Many affiliates across Canada operate successful ReStores‍; some of which raise enough funds to build an additional 10 or more houses per year.
